می‌توان از فرم گذشته ساده با ساختار ‘be’ + ‘going to’ برای صحبت در مورد آینده از یک نقطه در گذشته استفاده کرد.
“She didn’t know what was going to happen.”
“We were going to meet two days later in the square next to the centre.”
“She was going to return it but she saw something very strange, her number was on the screen.”
I thought it was going to be a great day.
پس این ساختار برای بیان آینده در گذشته استفاده می‌شود. در واقع این ساختار برای بیان آینده‌ای که از دید گذشته پیش‌بینی شده بود، استفاده می‌شود.

جملات زیر را با استفاده از گذشته ساده ‘be’ + ‘going to’ برای اشاره به آینده از یک نقطه در گذشته کامل کنید:
