اما برخلاف جملاتی مانند دو جمله بالا، گاهی it ضمیری برای اشاره به یک چیز مشخص که میدانیم چیست به کار برده نمیشود.

بلکه صرفاً دارد به موضوعی اشاره میکند که گوینده یا نویسنده یک جمله قرار است بگوید.
It is best to spend your time in the countryside.
برای مثال اینجا it اشاره دارد به “To spend your time in the countryside”
میتوانیم جمله بالا را به این شکل هم بیان کنیم:
To spend your time in the countryside is best
اما جمله اول رایجتر و روانتر است.

اینجا هم میدانیم که وقتی گفته میشود it’s boring to باید ببینیم منظور گوینده چیست. چه چیزی boring است؟ قرار است در ادامه جمله گفته شود.
